The democratization of renewables

Between January and December 2022, 44 GWh of electricity were generated in mainland Portugal, of which 059% came from renewable sources. Wind energy is largely responsible for the good numbers in our country, representing 56,9% of national consumption. Hydroelectric energy supplied 27%, biomass 17% and photovoltaics 5,5%. But it's in this last one
that we are going to focus attention on. From 2013 until the end of July 2022, photovoltaic solar energy registered the fastest growth of renewable energies in Portugal. In the first half of last year, Portugal added
546 MW of photovoltaic solar capacity. Although it took the country four years to go from 500 MW to 1 GW, the
The pace of deployment of photovoltaic solar energy has accelerated in recent years, taking just two years to double installed capacity to 2 GW.

The current situation, with rising energy prices and increasing pressure, is accelerating industry investment and consumer commitment, although there is still a long way to go.

It is in this dynamic market that Image4ALL operates. Led by João Loureiro, the company dedicated to diagnosing, developing and implementing energy solutions, started in 2016 with its focus on renewables. Six years later, the company enters 2023 with strong growth prospects. “2022 was an important year for Image4ALL, not only because our activity grew, but also because the society was strengthened with the entry of new partners who will give the company more technical and financial robustness”, underlines the CEO of Image4ALL. At the end of 2022, the company, in a consortium with Mota-Engil Ativ, won the contract for the design/construction of two units for the production of energy from a photoelectric source for self-consumption in the Valada-Tejo catchment and the ETA in Vale da Pedra, two projects that form part of “EPAL 0%”, the energy neutrality program recently launched by the public company. The contract,
worth 1,947 million euros, has an execution period of one year and includes the design and preparation of the project for the execution of the production units for self-consumption (UPAC) and the execution of the contract, construction of infrastructures, civil construction and structures, mechanical and electrical installations and installation and commissioning of the UPAC, a contract in which Imga4ALL holds a 30% stake. “This contract represents a very big challenge because it is a contract
from design to construction, which means that the project is our responsibility and is an example of a project in which I
I review the future of the company”, emphasizes João Lourenço.

From consultancy, to works always focusing on renewables
The company positions its activity in three distinct areas, the first of which is consultancy, consultancy
energy, certification and applications for recently launched public support programs (Environmental Fund, PRR and Portugal 2030, for example). The second of the company's three areas of activity is the "company's industrial area" for carrying out contracts, "all of which are linked to energy efficiency matters and here we are talking mainly about photovoltaic systems, but also air conditioning and domestic water heating lighting”, explains João Loureiro. Another focus is on the capacity of internal engineering since the company also executes works, supported by sub-contracts, where all the management, from contractual to provisioning, are assured by Image4ALL. "This is the
model that we consider more sustainable and that allows us to grow, but not to take a step too far”, maintains the
your responsible. Between the public portfolio and the private portfolio, the entrepreneur estimates for 2023 projects in the order of 1,2 million euros. But this number could very well grow, as the year starts with 60% of the backlog of works scheduled for 2023 already contracted.

The third aspect is the installation, operation and maintenance of charging stations. There are currently 14, but the intention is to grow, so that this aspect will gain weight in the company's turnover.
